Sibayo is one of the most beautiful villages in the Colca Valley. Located on the upper part of Colca Valley, about 3850 meters over sea level and 40 minutes away from Chivay. It is also known as Rumillacta, or stone village. This name was given due to the construction features of their homes. Made of stone walls and ichu roofs (grass roofs). Its people are dedicated to the smallholder agriculture; raising alpacas and rural tourism. Offering lodging and meals in their cozy homes to anyone who wants to have a community experience.
Alongside Sibayo is the only rafting spot of Colca, for any level and experience, as well as good hiking, horseback riding and bicycle tours, many of them made in the early geological transformations drawn by the Colca River that also form, miles later, the vast depths of one of the deepest canyons in the world.
Sibayo is where the early Colca populations settled, more than 8000 years ago. On Sibayo you can be able to see petroglyphs, caves and mummies.
