Piura is known for its amazing beaches, delicious gastronomy, warm climate, and it is where the famous Sechura desert is located.

Among the most visited beaches are Máncora, Los Órganos, Vichayito and Cabo Blanco. The last one is a historic spot, as it´s where the renowned American writer Ernest Hemingway came to fish for the black marlin, the main fish in some scenes of the film The Old Man and the Sea, based on his 1952 novel of the same name.

Also the main square attracts a lot of attention not only for its beauty but also because in the middle is the monument to freedom "La Pola", the oldest in the region. The bridges in the city of Piura and La Paloma de la Paz stand out because they were built in 1982 by the Peruvian sculptor Víctor Delfín.

A place constantly visited by tourists is the Catacaos market, 12 kilometers from Piura in a town full of traditions and customs.

In the market you will find typical products from the region such as the straw hats and the gold and silver filigree jewelry. It´s gastronomy is full of flavor, seasoning and essential ingredients. Among them are bananas, beans, yuca, a variety of fish and lemons from Chulucanas or Morropón. It is a mixture of products from the sea, Andean and Spanish.
