The hotel

Just 4 blocks from the Plaza de Armas and a few meters from the Plaza de San Blas and its church – one of the oldest in the city-, you will find the edification, that has 24 comfortable rooms around the traditional courtyard, with an unmistakable colonial architecture. And the best part is, that in spite of being in one of the most bohemian places of Cusco, it is situated just far enough to let you enjoy the peace that most travelers reach.

Decorated with colonial paintings and designs made by local craftsmen, Tierra Viva Cusco San Blas also has a modern business center and a wonderful garden with flowers and trees native from the Andes.

History of the “Artisan´s Neighborhood”

According to the chroniclers of the conquest, the huallas, potters and sacrificers of llamas, were the first inhabitants of the Valley of Cusco. The ancient Inca neighborhood known as T’oqokachi -window of salt- (today San Blas), had been occupied during the empire by craftsmen brought from all over the Tawantinsuyo, to work at the service of the Inca, reason why this area is known today as the “Artisans Neighborhood”.

Now, in the colonial houses located in the narrow streets of San Blas, you can find beautiful cafes, bars, restaurants and shops from popular Cusco artists, sucha as the Mendivil, Olave and Merida. Also, every Saturday, in the Plaza de San Blas, is the Artisan Fair, where you can appreciate the work of different artists.
