City Tour en Arequipa

The “White City” is one of the most visited destinations in Peru. A city full of history and beautiful places you must visit. In this blog, we recommend you a city tour you cannot miss for your next trip to Arequipa.

The Cathedral of Arequipa

Arequipa’s Cathedral is located in the Main Square, few blocks away from our Tierra Viva Arequipa Plaza Hotel, which was built with ashlar and has 70 columns with Corinthians chapiters. It is also know for it famous Belgian pipe organ. It is characterized by not having a frontal facade, but a lateral one. Also, it is the only church in the world where you can find a sculpture of a devil, which represent the triumph of God against it.

The Founder’s Mansion

Another tourist attraction you must visit in Arequipa is the Founder’s Mansion. This old house is located 20 minutes away from the center of the city, in the town of Huasacache. This building belonged to the founder of Arequipa, Manuel de Carvajal. Here you can enjoy its facilities: interior courtyards, a chapel area, main dinning room, among other colonial architecture details. The admission ticket is of S/15.00 ($4.00) and you can visit it from 09:00am to 05:00pm from Monday to Sunday.

Sabandia Mill

Considered a jewel of Arequipa´s architecture, it is located in the district of Sabandia, 20 minutes from the city center. Here you will be able to see the diverse flora such as trees that are more than 100 years old, a cactus collection, local plants; and its fauna such as the fighting bull from Arequipa, llamas, alpacas, roosters, and other local birds. You can’t miss it!
