What to visit in the Bolivian part of Lake Titicaca?
Among the large number of islands that make up in the Bolivian Lake Titicaca, Isla del Sol (Sun Island) stands out. It is a place with a lot of history, as the mythology says that Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo came from here to later arrive in Cusco to found the great Inca Empire.
During the Tahuantinsuyo, this island was a temple with virgins dedicated to Inti (the Sun God). The Inca footprint is reflected in several parts of the island: from the agricultural platforms, which are still preserved, to the impressive archaeological sites such as Puma Rock, the Pilcocaina temple or the Submerged City.
In addition, the island is the perfect destination for trekking lover, as it has incredible corners to enjoy hiking, nature and, of course, unimaginable views.

How to get to the Sun and Moon Islands from Puno?
If you are in Puno and want to visit the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca, you can do it very easy! You just have to travel to Copacabana, on a bus trip that lasts about three hours. Once in Copacabana, go to the port and take a boat for the island you want to visit.
Also, if you have time, we recommend you to go for a walk around Copacabana. Visit its market, try its delicious cuisine and have a beer overlooking the highest navigable lake in the world. It is a small village but you will love it!
