On August 15th the city of Arequipa celebrates its 478th anniversary and, as every year, the streets of the White City are filled with activities.

XIV MUSIC FROM AREQUIPA COMPETITION, YARAVÍ, PAMPEÑA Y VALS
Learn more about Arequipa folklore with different music groups of the region.

XXVIII INTERNATIONAL TUNAS MEETING
The international tunas meeting is a great tradition that has been celebrated in Arequipa for years. On this occasion, the event will feature the participation of tunas from Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.
Place: Municipal Theater (Thursday 2 and Friday 3, 4 pm and 7 pm, Saturday 4 pm, 3 pm) and Campo Redondo Square (Saturday 4, 7 pm).

REGIONAL PASSACAGLIA MUSIC
2000 dancers from the eight regions of Arequipa show us 40 folk dances from different parts of the department.
Place: the route begins at the intersection of Independencia and Mariscal Castilla avenues until reaching the height of the American Independence school.

XVII COMPETITION OF CARVING IN SILLAR, XIV OF FORGED IRON, V OF CARVED IN WOOD, IV OF CARVED IN STONE, III OF REPUJADO IN COPPER AND II OF REPUJADO IN LEATHER
A great demonstration of the knowledge of craftsmanship among the people of Arequipa.

II COMPETITION OF THE TRADITIONAL CASTLES BURNING
An authentic show of lights, shapes and colors.

FRIENDSHIP PARADE
A great parade in which to enjoy the local and national culture.
Place: the parade starts in Av. Lima with Av. Mariscal Castilla, then move on the right bank of Av. Mariscal Castilla, Av. Independencia, ending in the interception of the same with South Stadium, Recavarren Street and Santa Rosa Passage.

XXXVI FOLKLORIC DANCE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL – FESTIDANZAS 2018
Several folkloric groups of the country appear in this festival where they show the typical dances of their region.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS – “THE LARGEST PERUVIAN FOLK”
